First Quarter 2013
A DOG DAY AFTERNOON
A fun day for the entire community
St. Johns County nonprofit S.A.F.E. (Save Animals From Euthanasia) will be receiving over $3,000.00 toward their good work for our furry friends following last weekend’s Dog Day Afternoon 2013. Local charitable organization JCP CARES set a new proceeds record at Sunday’s celebration of all things canine. First Coast resident’s spent the beautiful afternoon with their best friends on the canine obstacle course, enjoying dog washes and “pet-i-cures” and having their picture taken or drawn.
Vendors included Luckee Dog K9 Ice Cream for the pups, along with Hawaiian Shaved Ice and hot dogs for their families. S.A.F.E. was very pleased with the event and resulting adoptions. “Several of our animals rescued from euthanasia found new forever homes and we couldn’t be happier!” Robin Kantner Nordan, Founder of S.A.F.E. “Each day thousands of animals face euthanasia at shelters all across the US, S.A.F.E has rescued over 4,600 animals so far with vet bills in excess of $60,000 last year alone. We thank everyone involved with this event for their support.” To see S.A.F.E. pets currently up for adoption, to make a donation or to learn more about becoming a S.A.F.E. foster family visit the S.A.F.E. website at www.safe-pet-rescue-fl.com
More than 230 service hours were earned for local youth who were volunteering. “Continuing to involve our local families not only in the fund-raising, but also with volunteer opportunities, is very important as we work to raise children with a charitable spirit,” stated Kathy Bravo, President and Founder of JCP CARES. “We are so pleased that this event touches St. Johns County families in many ways.”
Dog Day Afternoon is an annual event benefitting nonprofits focused on animals. JCP CARES, as a grassroots non-profit organization, has to date generated over $350,000 dollars in charitable giving, and logged almost 7,000 community service hours.
