THE COMMUNITY’S GENEROSITY IS OVERWHELMING!

JCP CARES recently concluded its fifth annual Giving Tree program, which represented the wish-list of thirty two St. Johns county charities hard hit by recession and ensuing budget cuts. This year, JCP CARES partnered with more than fifty community groups and businesses to raise more than $25,000 in charitable donations. Gifts were collected at locations throughout St. Johns County, including all county libraries. Despite the troubled economy, the Giving Tree program shows that people that can give, do. The Bank of St. Augustine customers and their employees donated $2800 in cash to ensure that those less fortunate within the County have a good holiday.

Each Giving Tree was tagged with gift ideas that reflected the four categories JCP CARES focuses upon each year:  children; animals & environment; seniors & medical; and homeless & abuse. A sample of worthy recipients include Pediatric Hospice, S.A.F.E., Wags and Whiskers, St. Francis House, Good Samaritan Health Clinics, Council on Aging, Guardian Ad Litem, O.U.R. Community Center of Hastings, DCF, Betty Griffin House and the Homeless Coalition. 

JCP CARES also made sure that the almost 300 students in the Homeless Program of St. Johns County School District all received a new book during the holidays.

“Seniors on a Mission” also lent a hand to this wonderful project.  The seniors came to help with the sorting and inventorying of the thousands of items that were donated through this program. Everything is collected, sorted and out to the various charities within 4 days. 

JCP CARES is a non profit organization that to date has generated more than a quarter of a million dollars  in charitable giving and more than 5000 community service hours. It is a grassroots organization that has no salaries, no overhead, etc. They return to the charities more than $20 for every $1 spent.
